If things were handled differently this review might be a bit brighter. But since i cant seem to get ANY response from the leadership or individual elders, its gonna be what it is. And do keep in mind not one person at this church knows or understands anything of recent events of why my family and I left this one sided church. I was the drummer for this church for 5 years and was baptised on 11,March of 1999 by former minister Mike G. In the last 3 years I have been through some very hard times due to surgerys and more specific, back problems. Now the people of the church, the congregation, were and still are very loving and supportive. However the minister of this church at present time is not at all what he seems to be. Quite simply put he is a 9 to 5 minister with a problem of letting selected others know of personal problems that have been disclosed to him confidentially. As far as i know i have not been put under the bus as of yet, however after this is put out there i most surly will be,but then again i might already have a fabricated story of why i left,i dont know, but i DO know that is how it works when you decide to be independent and speak your mind within this church. And the one person that does it best is the minister. I know this because over the last 5 years i have watched and heard him do it. People that thought they were friends, and some that are still there blind to this fact, were and have been openly discussed with the term "dont repeat this to anyone." Now i want to be perfectly clear here, I have tried numerous times to contact the elders of this church that i thought was my home and all i got was a call, in the middle of dinner with my family, asking if i could come to the church to talk!!?and this was over 2 months later. The minister or so called, did not try to reach out at all,it was a month later and family members went and asked what he thought he was doing, this was after their christian school gave up on my son after only 3 weeks into the year and he knew how hard that was on us. The only thing he was worried about, and this was asked through a txt which is his preferred way of talking to you,was if I was still gonna play drums for chapel!! No concern or mention of my son or my family at all. Bottom line is if you dont have something to offer this church, you dont get noticed or respected. Sure, you will come in and everyone will welcome you and it will seem nice, but after about 3 weeks you will be on your own. So this is my review, from a member that has been around this church since 1999,and has been there just over a year less than the current minister. Again, a 9 to 5 minister with a wife that does nothing within the church and an agenda that takes priority over everything else which is music and that of which the church allows. Just like the church allowed him to appoint his nephew leader of the second service with pay,out of nowhere and also allows him to pay his friends to come and play music, and thats not even mentioning all of the trips he is allowed to take to do music concerts and revivals for other churchs and functions but never his own. Its truly sad what he has turned this church into. If you can go there, having a strong faith, and not pay attention to all the politics and the false front that stands on stage, then you should be fine, because the people of this church are great, kind, caring and loving. I met and married my wife in this church in front of the congregation, and I miss those people dearly. However i can not go back and sit and watch this man preach when i KNOW he is NOT practicing the same. .. You wont confront ANY conflict! least of all face to face.. The leadership of this church is corupt and hypicritical

  • East Columbus Christian Church has allowed Harrison College (Columbus, IN campus) to use it's facilities for our Commencement exercises for the past year. They are a very welcoming and generous congregation.
Additionally, my husband and I have attended several services and have been welcomed every time we attend. Thank you Ron Bridgewater and Leadership for sharing your facilities with Harrison College.
